KCW: Once Upon A Time...

Once upon a time, there was a little girl....

whose mother sewed her a dress using Liberty of London Carnaby jersey knit,

and she lived happily ever after.

The End.

Pattern: Make It Perfect Little Joey
Size 4 - no modifications
Fabric: Liberty Of London Carnaby jersey and navy ribbing

The other KCW news is a secret polo shirt for P that I can't share fully yet...

and a completely insane work in progress.....

Does anyone else do this kind of thing? Tuesday is Italian day at P's school. We have everything we need for a great Venetian gondolier costume, except the straw boater hat.

I'm here to tell you that you can buy a fedora, a trilby, a cowboy hat, all sorts of hats for kids. But not straw boaters. So I'm making one. Never done it before, but that kind of thing doesn't stop me! Follow my progress on Facebook or Flickr. It's one enormous task!

  1. I would live happily ever after, too, if I had that beautiful dress. And I bet the Liberty fabric is lovely and soft. Lucky girl. As for your straw boater, I think the chances of anyone else having constructed one are slim - but it doesn't surprise me that YOU would give it a go!!

  2. Liberty of London knit fabric? How exciting and luxurious! It must be the most loved dress ever:) And I love the solid contrast waistband/bindings - looks great against the main fabric print.
Great job with the straw boater hat - I'm super impressed!

    1. See, we were sewing the same thing at the same time! Mine wasn't technically as thrifty as yours, but since I cut the dress from leftovers I could say it was free!

    1. Thanks Gail. It's a great pattern. I have the grown up one yet to be sewn, although in my imagination when I'm wearing it I'm as plank like as my daughter (which ain't the truth). We'll see how that one turns out!

    1. I'm just happy to see her wearing a dress that covers her knickers. All the favourites were getting a bit short! the shirt was a fun experiment and the hat ended up a fantastic success. Looking forward to sharing them both

    1. Thanks Rachel. Did you see Lucinda's blue one? https://www.flickr.com/photos/24761454@N00/15417959860/in/contacts/ She sensibly sized the pocket up a bit. This one is good but I think for the bigger kids it could be more generous. Hers certainly still looks in proportion but is more useful.
